Our Integrative Approach

An integrative approach in therapy is all about mixing and matching the best tools and interventions to fit your unique needs. This holistic and adaptive style ensures you get a treatment plan that’s as dynamic and individual as you are.  Below are some of the interventions that Live Full Therapists are trained and skilled in providing.

Trauma Therapy

Live Full Therapists are experts in the dynamics of trauma and are skilled in working with the nervous system to support clients in healing. A trauma is anything that is so upsetting or disturbing that our system becomes overwhelmed and cannot properly process the experience.   Our brain is actually unable to store the material the way it does with normal experiences.  This results in often feeling like the past is here in the present and can lead to a number of overwhelming symptoms.

While talk therapy can be incredibly beneficial, research is continuing to show that to be effective, the healing of trauma needs to be done on a body and nervous system level.  This is why Live Full therapists utilize EMDR, Somatic Therapies, and other interventions that work with both the brain and body.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR (which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), is a highly effective treatment for a number of issues, including trauma, anxiety, low self-worth, grief and depression, among many others.  EMDR is a comprehensive therapeutic approach that works to reprocess past experiences, resulting in our brain being able to properly store the material.  EMDR allows our system to naturally complete the healing process so we can remember the traumatic experiences without feeling a strong emotional response.  When trauma is effectively reprocessed, symptoms fall away on their own because they are no longer needed.

At Live Full Therapy, our therapists have advanced certification and/or training in EMDR.  They receive regular EMDR consultation and are highly skilled

Somatic Therapy

Somatic Experiencing and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy focus on building capacity and resources that allow for deep work and change to occur.  Trauma and high levels of stress often lead to disruption in the nervous system, due to our natural survival responses being unable to complete.  These survival responses (such as fight + flight + freeze) essentially get stuck in the body, resulting in a variety of post-traumatic stress symptoms.  Somatic therapies gently work with the nervous system to discharge and complete those stuck survival responses that were unable to resolve at the time of the experience. This leads to an increased awareness of and connection to the body, relief of trauma symptoms, diminished pain and fatigue, and an ability to more fully engage in life and relationships.

Play Therapy

Play therapy is a therapeutic approach based on the understanding that play is a natural and essential aspect of children's development, allowing them to communicate, express, and process their inner world.

Live Full Therapists are trained in a number of child-centered interventions that aim to promote healthy attachment and nervous system regulation for kiddos and their families.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps reprocess distressing memories so they no longer trigger intense emotional responses. Through guided bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or tapping, EMDR enables the brain to store these experiences properly, reducing symptoms and promoting emotional resilience. You can read more here.

  • Somatic therapy focuses on the connection between the mind and body, helping to release trauma stored in the nervous system.
